A few shopping ideas…

I’m always a fan of giving the gift of health to family and loved ones.

But that doesn’t necessarily mean a gym membership or the latest exercise equipment advertised on late night TV.

We’ve got a few good ideas that might just do the trick for someone on your list.

There are great gifts to use in the kitchen that can make cooking at home more fun.  A beautiful set of knives, cookware, healthy cookbooks , a salad spinner, a vitamix, or some unusual spices.

Or give something that will help your loved one de-stress:  tickets to a movie or baseball game, a gift certificate for a massage, or a promise for a weekend get-away.

And there are always the more obvious health and fitness gifts:  new athletic shoes or clothing, a heart rate monitor, or a package of personal training sessions.

Enjoy the process of choosing for the people you love.  ‘Tis the season!

Embrace the Moment….

There are very few moments in our lives that we feel like we have truly arrived.

Most of the time we are striving for the next thing – the next big account, the last 10 pounds, more miles in less time on the treadmill.

Don’t get me wrong….I’m obviously all for setting goals and moving toward them with purpose.

But there is also an incredible satisfaction in embracing the in-between times.

BetweenTheLinesSCREEN thumb Embrace the Moment….

We aren’t where we were, but we haven’t arrived, either.

We’re standing in the gap, noticing the process, and savoring each moment.

Enjoy the ride … it’s the most important thing.

Email from Pearland Resident: Was my workout good?

Its Monday Pearland….

I had someone email me earlier, asking if there weekend workout was good.

(this person is not a client of us here at Method Evolution – but a person who has a membership at a local gym)

They go to the gym, do 10-15 minutes on a treadmill, 3 exercise for legs (leg ext, leg curls and leg press) 3 sets of each and 10-12 reps on each; then 3 exercise for shoulders (shoulder presses, side laterals and front raises) 3 sets of each and 10-12 reps on each; then 10-20 minutes on the treadmill takes about an hour.

They asked if this was any good because they were not getting results.

My answer is: Yes that workout is good…but what is your goal?

Just because a workout is good does not mean it will help with your goal

Follow me?

I’m sure swimmers have great workouts, but it would not help a basketball player.

What we do for our personal training clients and bootcampers is geared to burn the most amount of fat in the least amount of time.

That workout above, that is good has a total of 180-200 reps and isolates just 2 body parts…

We do more reps in our first round than that whole workout and in a fraction of the time…and we do multiple rounds.

Remember, your workout should support your goal!

Pearland Personal Trainer says “Just Do It!”

The old Nike adage applies when it comes to creating new habits.

Just-do-it

For years we were told that it takes 21 days to form a new habit.

New research says that simple things, like drinking more water or eating a piece of fruit every day can happen in 21 days.

But things that are more difficult (like doing 100 sit-ups every night before bed) take longer.

The main point, though, is that repetition is the key.  Daily practice will speed up your progress.  Think about something you want to change between now and Christmas, and just do it.

(Send us an email and let us know what your doing and how we can help.)
